Nottingham Forest's Albert Adomah may be growing increasingly concerned at his lack of recent starts for Sabri Lamouchi's side, with the 31-year-old beginning on the bench in the Reds' last four Championship games.

Adomah arrived at the City Ground on a free transfer from Aston Villa in the summer, having made 39 appearances and scored four goals to help fire Villa to the Premier League via the play-offs.

Therefore, the 31-year-old would have been confident of establishing himself as a starter at Forest given his experience of achieving success in the division with Middlesbrough as well as Villa.

The winger started both of Nottingham Forest's opening two Championship games, but was dropped to the bench for the 3-0 win against Birmingham at the City Ground - and he has largely found himself having to make an impact as a sub on the whole.

Adomah's only start in the league since the second day of the season was in Nottingham Forest's 1-0 win at Swansea City, where he was brought off just before the hour mark for Joe Lolley - and that appears to highlight that Lamouchi views the attacker as more of a player who can make an impact in the closing stages of games, rather than from the start.

Lolley has been the preferred started for Lamouchi on the right-hand side of his 4-2-3-1 formation, and the 27-year-old has managed to score three goals and produce one assist in his ten appearances, which is not much more than the two goals and one assist that Adomah has managed in less starts.

However, Lamouchi's decision to use Adomah as more of an impact player has paid off at times, with the 31-year-old coming onto score vital late equalisers in draws at Charlton Athletic and at home to Preston North End. His ability to drive forwards in possession is a key asset against tiring defences.

That suggests that whilst Adomah will be frustrated that he is not starting matches, at least he is always being used from the bench to try and make an impact in the closing stages, and the wide man is showing the right attitude to being left out of the starting line-up.

Should Nottingham Forest's form to dip over the next few weeks, there would be a real case for Adomah to make a return to the starting line-up but as they keep picking up points he will know he has to be patient no matter how tough it is.
