A very busy summer of transfer activity is expected at The City Ground this summer as Aitor Karanka continues to chop and change the Nottingham Forest squad he inherited from Mark Warburton.

There are a number of players who are facing the axe this summer and these players will need to impress early in pre-season or else they will be looking for new clubs before the start of next season.

In the January transfer window, Karanka was very busy, sending a number of players out on loan and working right up until the transfer deadline bringing in the players that he wants instead.

More of the same is anticipated this summer as he is clearly unimpressed by a number of his squad options.

Here are three players that could be heading for the exit door at Nottingham Forest this summer unless they can prove to Karanka that they deserve a place in his team.

Mancienne has been a decent servant for Forest since arriving Germany in 2014.

But in the past year or so, the 30-year-old's performances have dipped and he lost his place in the side under Karanka.

With Michael Dawson set to return, Mancienne needs to up his game drastically or he could be moved on.

Cummings only arrived last summer but he is attracting a lot of interest from Scotland and Forest could be tempted to sell him.

Karanka shipped the 22-year-old out on loan to Rangers in the January transfer window as he did not feel he was ready for first-team football.

The twice capped Scotland international must prove that he has got better and show that he has the potential to become a good player with time.

Another striker who is surely heading for the exit door is Vellios.

The 26-year-old scored just one league goal for the Reds this term.

A return to his home country is likely for the Greece international, who has never really found his feet in England.
