‘The next Sunderland’, ‘Shambles’ – Plenty of Stoke City fans are not happy

It was a tough evening to be a Stoke City fan last night, the pre-season hope of an immediate return is almost gone already as they slipped to a humiliating 3-0 home reverse against Wigan.

The Potters were second best all over the pitch, their players argued with each other and they rarely threatened the visitors goal.

Wigan might have put in a good performance, but they won’t find many easier three points on their travels.

Stoke ended the game with ten men, no shots on target and a place in the bottom three, a stark contrast to the hopes of a top two challenge this season.

It may be too early to write them off, but on their showing at the bet365 Stadium last night, they’re as far away from promotion back to the Premier League as QPR are.

Comparisons with Sunderland are inevitable, not just because of the red and white shirts, but underperforming stars who contributed to relegation and the air of menace and disdain around their home ground.

Gary Rowett is already under fire, despite the season only being four games old. There’s even an accusation on Twitter they deleted their original tweet about the result to get rid of the negative comments. They need not have bothered, they were soon back up on the new tweet.

Here’s a collection of some of the best, or worst, depending on your stance.
