After their staggering run of form during the second half of last season, plenty was expected of Millwall this time around.

Neil Harris took his side from relegation fodder before Christmas into playoff contenders by the last few weeks of the season.

They narrowly missed out on a spot in the top-six in the end, but it certainly gave their fans a massive boost that future seasons could have plenty of success among them.

But the reality has been a little different this season as the Lions have returned to their more natural position as a bottom half side, currently occupying 21st spot and only staying out of the bottom three on goal difference.

One man who has carried his form of last season into the current one is striker Lee Gregory.

He has already racked up seven in 16 matches this season as well as two assists and is set to attract plenty of attention in the January transfer window.

What then for Harris and his side?

Here are three possible replacements for him.

Godden has been another inspired striker signing by Peterborough United, with the former Stevenage man scoring nine League One goals already this season.

He is built in a similar mould to Gregory in terms of his industrious attitude and ability in the air whilst also keeping that lethal edge and brilliant touch as well.

Marquis has proven himself to be a top League One striker over the last few seasons and the time has probably come for him to make the step up.

A clinical finisher, the Doncaster man already has nine goals this season.

He is proficient with both feet and real focal point of any attacking set up he plays in.

It is possible that the Lions may want to go down a different route.

If they are keen on bringing in someone who is more of a target man, the out of favour Matt Smith at Queens Park Rangers could be a candidate.

He has shown himself to be a reliable goalscoring in the second tier and could be just the man needed at the Den.
