Steve Bruce looks set to continue with Mile Jedinak at centre-back for Aston Villa, despite his side's defensive struggles this season.

The Australian, who has spent the majority of his career as a defensive midfielder, has dropped back this season as Villa adjust to life without John Terry.

And, the results haven't been good. The West Midlands side have picked up just one clean sheet from eight games, which came last time out at home to Rotherham.

Many supporters feel that playing Jedinak in an unnatural position has been a major reason for that, but Bruce disagrees, suggesting he has been made an unfair scapegoat.

"I am convinced Mile Jedinak will be a centre-half. I saw it the other night. He has been, in my opinion, unfairly criticised because results have not gone for us," he told the Express & Star.

As well as that, the experienced boss virtually confirmed the 33-year-old would be starting against the Owls tomorrow, with Axel Tuanzebe on the bench.

This didn't go down with many Villa fans on Twitter. Here's how they reacted...
