It's been a cracking season for Newcastle United in the Championship who confirmed their promotion back to the Premier League this week, with a superb 4-1 victory over Preston North End at St James' Park.

Rafa Benitez has done what he promised to do when he took the reigns earlier this campaign and although it hasn't been as easy as expected at times, they're back in the big time and will be looking forward to competing with the big boys at the top of the English footballing ladder next season.

But looking ahead to the summer, there's certainly some players that won't be making the Premier League squad going forward and one player we don't think will be part of that group is £1.7million-rated forward Daryl Murphy, who has struggled for goals and game-time after his move to the club from Ipswich Town.

You can't for a minute question the Irishman's work-ethic and ethos, which has been absolutely superb throughout his time at the club, but with the quality Newcastle have had in their striking ranks, it's been tough for him to really make an impact.

It's a tough question but is he the sort of player that will be able to really make an impact in the Premier League? At this moment in time, no he's not.

And there's one club we think should be lining him up this summer and that's Nottingham Forest, who will be looking to have a much better stab of it next year after a poor season down towards the bottom of the division.

The Reds will be under the guidance of Mark Warburton next season and he'll be looking to guide them towards the top-ten and perhaps even the play-offs next time out.

Murphy is proven at this level during his time with Ipswich Town and with just Ben Brereton, Zach Clough and Assombalonga in the forwards ranks at the Forest Ground, he'd make a cracking addition to a Reds squad that really needs to pick it up over the coming months.
