Paul Heckingbottom will be planning a serious overhaul of his Leeds squad in the summer as he looks to build a team that can compete for a play-off spot.

One priority has to be bringing in a new goalkeeper. Felix Wiedwald has had a disastrous first season in English football, after joining from Werder Bremen.

The German stopper was dropped by Thomas Christiansen after several errors earlier in the season but won his place back just seven games later with Andy Lonergan equally unconvincing.

However, Heckingbottom was forced to replace Wiedwald not long after he took charge, with Bailey Peacock-Farrell given a chance.

The youngster has taken that opportunity but the Whites are still going to want a new keeper in the summer and Newcastle's Freddie Woodman could be the answer.

The England U20 World Cup winner, who saved a penalty in the final last summer, is way down the pecking order at St. James' Park and moved to Aberdeen in January to get regular football.

Since joining the Dons, Woodman has done very well, keeping three clean sheets in eight games as well as helping the team into the Scottish Cup semi-final.

The youngster is an excellent shot-stopper and also capable of dominating his area. His potential has been recognised by those in the national team setup, with Woodman in the England U21 squad for their upcoming games.

Leeds are in desperate need of a keeper and Woodman could be the long-term answer at Elland Road.
