Leeds United have been dealt with a massive blow to their automatic promotion prospects with the news that star striker Kemar Roofe is set to miss a large chunk of the rest of the season.

The 26-year-old has knee ligament damage, the club confirmed on Monday afternoon.

It means their 14-goal marksman will miss most, if not all, of the club’s final 14 games of the season.

United are currently third in the table and have a game in hand on their two rivals above them.

It’s mad news for the Whites who had been leading the division for much of the season, and now without their top scorer, their promotion charge could suffer.

With Roofe out, Bielsa will have to have a new forward line in place for this weekend’s match against Bolton Wanderers at Elland Road.

And this could well be the new-look Leeds attack we might see in the wake of the latest setback to Roofe.

Patrick Bamford

The understudy to Roofe has been in the side with the now-injured striker playing deeper, but without the top scorer, Bamford will be thrust into the leading role up front to provide the goals to get the club back to the Premier League.

There will, of course, be competition from Izzy Brown and Tyler Roberts for a place in the side, but the former Middlesbrough striker is now the number one in that position.

Jack Harrison

With Ezgjan Alioski preferred to Barry Douglas at left-back at present, the Manchester City loanee is getting a more sustained chance in the first team.

Having scored in the win over Swansea last midweek, his place in the side should be continued, and he could be the one to provide the ammunition for Bamford to score.

Mateusz Klich

Keeping in his midfield role, Mateusz Klich has been effective this campaign in both boxes, and with Roofe out, his position in the side is unaffected.

The only difference is who he has alongside him now as with both Bamford and Roofe in the side; the injured striker played deeper in the midfield next to Klich.

Without Roofe, his midfield partner will change.

Pablo Hernandez

Although he may not have the legs as he once did, Hernandez is still a fine player who would be able to adapt to the middle of the pitch, where he once played for Swansea.

The 33-year-old Spaniard has been on the wing got most of the season for Bielsa but with Jack Clarke soon to be fit again, the midfield maestro could well be drafted into the centre of the park.

Jack Clarke

With Roofe out and Hernandez possibly moving inside, Jack Clarke will return from illness and effectively nail a starting place down on the right-hand side.

The 18-year-old has been super impressive for the Elland Road club, and he will be given licence to meander forward to try and assist Bamford in Roofe’s absence.

This could potentially be the new Leeds attack with Roofe out for a period of time injured:
