Birmingham City moved up to ninth in the Championship table with a hard-fought win over Stoke City at the weekend, with young midfielder Jude Bellingham netting the winner for Pep Clotet's side.

Bellingham's goal was the first of his senior career, and the 16-year-old has looked bright in his breakthrough season for the Blues.

Football League World's Birmingham City fan pundit Jack Blenkiron has issued his thoughts on Bellingham's performance in the win over Stoke, and was pleased with what he saw from the youngster.

"Despite showing signs of brilliance against Barnsley in the previous home fixture, Montero’s injury early in the first half is somewhat of a blessing in disguise, especially to Jude Bellingham.

"The first feature you notice about Jude is his desire to take the ball and drive forward at the defence fearlessly, which was evident throughout the game. Albeit a deflected strike, it was one of the attacking runs which created the chance for the second goal, and for Jude’s first senior goal at the age of 16."

The regular punter wasn't pleased with what he saw from his side before they turned the game around on the day, but was delighted to see Bellingham celebrate with the St Andrew's faithful.

"Many would agree with me that the 70 minutes leading up to that equaliser was dreadful as a whole, boring and outclassed by a struggling Stoke side.

"However, two goals in three minutes turned the game on its head, and the celebration between Jude and the fans shows how much it means to both us supporters, and the Blues fan himself."

Blenkiron doesn't expect to see Bellingham featuring regularly at this stage of his career, and feels as though he could be a useful option to have on the substitutes bench.

"There are many players that you could make a case of failing to live up to their potential due to the ‘hype’ surrounding them in the English game, such as Ravel Morrison, Federico Macheda and Jordan Ibe, all who have been on the books at St. Andrew's in recent years, with Jude being the youngest scorer in the EFL since Ibe, who was only 15.

"Nobody expects Jude to be starting week in week out at his age, yet he’s proved that he’s worth a gamble coming off the bench, as a minimum."

The Birmingham fan pundit made a bold claim on the potential that Bellingham has, and feels as though Bellingham deserves all of the plaudits that come his way this season.

"The hype surrounding Jude is deserved, I’ll go out on a limb to say that he’s the most talented youngster in the EFL right now, although I know that some may disagree, maybe I’m just biased!

"This season could be the campaign that Jude announces himself. His recent interviews have epitomised his self-belief, whilst also remaining grounded, and if this continues, us at St Andrew's are in for a treat."
