Swansea City’s academy has been one of the best in the country in the last decade or so.

The Welsh club has nurtured some of the best talents the country has produced in recent years, such as Joe Allen, who is one of the best midfielders in the division at the moment.

Allen made 100 appearances for the club, and he is one of the players that young prospects currently in the academy look up to, as they look to make the step up to the first team.

Swansea spent the best part of a decade in the Premier League and won plaudits for their expansive style of attacking football under Brendan Rodgers and then Michael Laudrup.

Unfortunately, the Swans were relegated in 2017/18 and are now forced to rebuild in the Championship.

One way they may wish to do this is to recruit from the academy.

Here, we look at the top three talents most likely to make the step up from the academy to the first team.

Swansea made many first team signings in the summer, but one that went under the radar was that of Yan Dhanda from Liverpool.

Dhanda was admired by the Reds but was allowed to move on to Swansea in the summer.

The Birmingham-born forward of Indian heritage could make an impact on the first team at Swansea, if he is given chances.

Declan John was originally signed for the first team at Swansea, following his move from Rangers, but it has failed to work out so far and he has played for the U23’s more than the first team.

Despite his slow start to life at the Liberty Stadium, he will be hoping he can make the step up to the first team again soon and kick-start his career.

Brandon Cooper is an 18-year-old defender who is showing maturity beyond his years for the under-23 side this season.

Cooper hails from Porthcawl and fancies himself to eventually play for his boyhood club that he joined at the age of six.
