Queens Park Rangers finished their season in a mediocre 16th place in the championship table, with manager Ian Holloway leaving the club after the conclusion of the campaign.

According to a report in the Derby Telegraph, QPR are set to announce Steve McClaren as their new manager, who will look to bolster their squad in the summer, starting with Derby County’s Chris Martin.

The 29-year-old has been linked with a transfer to Loftus Road due to him seemingly not in Gary Rowett’s plans, having sent him out on loan to Reading for a portion of this season, where he scored just once in his short stay at the Madejski Stadium.

If appointed manager, it will be McClaren’s first job since being sacked by the Rams in March of last year, when he worked with potential transfer target Chris Martin.

Whoever the manager will be next season, what is known is that QPR will definitely be in the market for some new players, and these are the ones that should join Chris Martin at Loftus Road next season.

Anthony Pilkington is on the books at recently promoted Cardiff City, but after just one start and seven substitute appearances in the league all season, Neil Warnock could be looking to offload the winger and QPR could perhaps be the perfect landing ground for the 29-year-old.

The Irishman is a proven talent at Championship level, having played for the Huddersfield Town and Norwich City, prior to the Bluebirds, and could do wonders for Steve McClaren’s new side.

Mason Mount signed a new four-year contract at Chelsea, running until 2021 last summer, before being sent out on loan to Dutch side Vitesse, where he has netted 13 goals in 30 appearances.

Queens Park Rangers may not be able to afford the transfer fee for the youngster, but a loan signing could be beneficial for both parties, as Mount gains first team football experience and the Hoops gain a talented youngster.
