This evening sees Portsmouth back at Fratton Park for the second time in the space of four days as they take on Rochdale in League One.

Pompey will be keen to build on their 3-1 win over MK Dons on Tuesday night, a result which moved them back into the play-off places.

A win this evening would take them into third ahead Wycombe on goal difference, and Kenny Jackett will be keen for his players to produce the goods at home once again.

Ahead of the big game, the Portsmouth manager spoke to the press, first reflecting on Tuesday night's victory.

“With 12 games in six weeks – and a performance at Fleetwood that lacked energy – I did feel we needed to change things [against MK Dons]," Jackett said.

“But I’m confident that the people coming in are both good enough and aware of what’s required of them."

Pompey's upcoming opponents, Rochdale, are 19th in the league table and have not won in seven league games.

However, Jackett ruled out his side going into the game with complacency.

“Rochdale are a very good footballing side and have some talented players in their squad, but coming to places like Fratton Park makes it a slightly different game," he said.

“We’ll give the players the information we think they need, while concentrating on getting our own performance levels right."

Pompey now have twelve league matches remaining to achieve their goals this season, and Jackett wants his squad to go into the run-in with a can-do attitude.

"With our league position and the number of matches to go, we know it’s going to need a sprint finish," he said.

“The top of the table is very close and we’re one of the sides battling for promotion – we want to make the most of the situation we’ve got ourselves into."
