Cardiff City head to Kenilworth Road to face Luton Town on Saturday in search of just their second Championship win since the 29th of December.

The Hatters are bottom of the table and have won just once in their last 11 games, so Neil Harris' side should be confident of taking all three points.

Cardiff sit 12th as things stand, seven points adrift of the top six, and will be hoping that a win on Saturday can help kick-start their play-off push.

Harris spoke to the press earlier this week, here are the main talking points...

Wanting more and season ambitions

Speaking to Wales Online, Harris suggested that Cardiff had drawn too many games since he took charge and revealed that he'd asked the players for "a little bit more".

He added that the next week, which will see the Bluebirds play against three sides in the bottom half of the table, is the biggest since he's been in charge.

The Cardiff boss claimed that the next week will give his side a chance to close the gap on the top six and suggested that the play-offs were "definitely" on.

New signings

The Bluebirds made three signings during the winter transfer window, adding Bournemouth defender Brad Smith, Nottingham Forest winger Albert Adomah, and Wolves centre-back Dion Sanderson.

When pressed on whether the trio would be ready for the game against Luton, he said: "Brad Smith is the one that’s not played as much football as everyone else, so he might need a bit of time to get up to speed.

"Albert has been involved in every Championship game for Forest and Dion is a fit young lad. Albert brings a goalscoring knack. They are fit lads and training has gone through the roof."

Injuries

Harris also addressed the fitness of his squad, revealing that midfielder Joe Ralls was still struggling with a glute injury.

The Bluebirds boss revealed that the 26-year-old would not be back for tomorrow's game and would likely miss the midweek clash with Huddersfield Town as well.

When asked about the fitness of the rest of the side, he said: "Some players missed out due to injury and illness, but we are hoping everyone we’ll be OK."

On Cardiff's financial situation

Harris suggested he knew there wasn't going to be millions to be spent in January but that they will likely have to cut the squad, rebuild the group, and go again next season.

He stated that he is really happy with his current squad but that there would be turnover in the summer.

The Bluebirds boss outlined his aspirations to get the club back to the Premer League, and added: "That’s why I’m here. I want to compete.

"The owner has backed managers in the past and I hope that continues.

"Will we spend money in the summer? That’ll be down to the board in the summer but I will put my requirements for the summer in April to see where we are at."
