Swansea will be looking to close the gap on the Championship top six when they welcome 17th-placed QPR to the Liberty Stadium this evening.

Steve Cooper's side have suffered a setback in their play-off hopes after collecting just one point from their last three games, with this meaning they are now four points adrift of Preston in sixth place.

The Swans' most recent outing saw them lose 3-2 against Derby in South Wales over the weekend, and Cooper will now view it as paramount that his side seal a positive result against the Rs in order to halt their recent slide.

The Swansea boss has now been speaking ahead of QPR's visit and he has urged his side to show the strength of character required to secure a return to winning ways against a Hoops side who have now lost four matches on the trot.

Here is what he had to say...

“We owe it to ourselves do be better. That’s it for me, it’s for us to stand up and be counted,” Cooper said.

“We have to get back to winning ways. We have talked about making the most of what is in front of us, and that does not change even though we lost at the weekend.

“The focus has to be on getting a result against QPR, we have got to stay in and amongst it (in the table) and the only way to do that is to win games."

Cooper also touched on tonight's opponents QPR by claiming they are a good footballing side, and he emphasised that the Swans will need to be well aware of their strengths heading into the match.

"They're a good football team and they play in a good way. Like always we'll have to be aware of where their strengths are," he said.
