Sheffield United picked up another much needed three points on Tuesday night thanks to a 3-2 win against Brentford at Griffin Park.

Neal Maupay gave the Bees an early lead, but just nine minutes later Chris Wilder's side were in front thanks to an Ezri Konsa own goal in the 10th minute before Oliver Norwood bent home a stunning strike in the 15th.

But Brentford were level again just after the hour mark when Blades' midfield maestro John Fleck flicked the ball into his own goal to make the score 2-2.

Thanks to some great work from Conor Washington, however, Chris Wilder's side re-took the lead in the 72nd minute, setting up Leon Clarke to slot home the winner.

It was a win that closed the gap on the automatic promotion places again, leaving the Blades just two points behind second-placed Leeds United.

There was plenty for Wilder to soak in during the 90 minutes, so hear are the lessons he will have learnt on Tuesday night.

There have been murmurs about Chris Wilder's desire to bring in another striker in the January transfer window, but last night will have shown him that is not needed.

Conor Washington started the match and showed why Wilder signed him in the summer. He offers lethal pace and a tireless work rate, two factors that will be lethal in the promotion run in, and showed his end product with a brilliant assist for Clarke's winner.

It was around this time last season that the Blades fell out of the title race.

At 1-0 Wilder may have been worrying that it was set to happen again, but to bounce back from that and then from Brentford's equaliser shows the improvement in mental strength that has taken place at Bramall Lane this season.
