Kenny Jackett couldn't be more pleased with his Portsmouth team this season with his side sat three points clear in League 1, ahead of Peterborough who are second in the table.

Ronan Curtis has been Jackett's stand out player with six goals and five assists already to his name this season and he will be confident of keeping up his rich run of form.

They have only suffered one defeat in their league campaign so far in a 2-0 defeat at home to bottom-side Gillingham in a disappointing performance from Jackett's side.

With the likes of former Bournemouth striker Brett Pitman and on-loan Aston Villa winger Andre Green in their side, many would have predicted Portsmouth to challenge for promotion and they are doing just that.

But what lessons will the former Wolves manager have learnt about his side after their opening 12 matches?

Find out here....

The league table speaks for itself, with Portsmouth already creating a gap between them and second placed Peterborough United. With a considerable amount of attacking talent within the squad, it's no surprise to see Jackett's side already find the back of the net 21 times this season.

Jackett will have a clear idea what is strongest starting XI is and it consists of a mix between young talent and more experienced players.

Young players such as the in-form Ronan Curtis are benefitting from having more experienced players such as Brett Pitman to play alongside them. Jackett evidently has the correct balance between the two as his side have only been defeated once in their opening 12 matches.

With all of the attacking talent that Kenny Jackett has at his disposal, it's easy to forget the defenders that are performing as well as the attackers.

Pompey have only conceded ten goals this season, which sees them boast the third tightest defence. Only Barnsley and Blackpool have conceded less goals than Jackett's side so he will be keen to maintain that impressive defensive record.
