Leeds United's promotion chances were handed a timely boost, with the news that Kemar Roofe is set to return to action for their game against Birmingham City next weekend.

Marcelo Bielsa broke the news in a pre-match press conference ahead of their game with Millwall this weekend, but Roofe's return could be bad news for a Leeds team-mate.

Patrick Bamford is a man that hasn't grasped the opportunity of a run in the Leeds starting XI with both hands since he replaced Roofe in the starting XI.

Bamf0rd has scored some important goals since Roofe was ruled out through injury, but he hasn't been consistent enough to warrant a regular starting spot in Bielsa's squad.

On the other hand, Roofe has been in impressive form for the majority of this year's campaign and has 14 league goals to his name in their promotion-chasing season.

Without his goals, Leeds wouldn't be within touching distance of the automatic promotion places, and Roofe will fancy his chances at firing the Whites back into the top two with just eight league games remaining.

Bamford will certainly be fearing for his starting spot in Bielsa's squad ahead of the remainder of this season, as Roofe can be considered as a safer option to have up-front.

Roofe has a clinical eye for goal and has shown that he takes the chances presented to him, unlike Bamford who has spurned a number of good opportunities to add to his tally this season.

So Bamford has every right to be fearful of his place in the starting XI, but he needs to take this last chance in the side this weekend against Millwall, as it could be the last opportunity he gets to stake a strong claim to Bielsa for a regular starting spot.

It's a make or break point in the season for the former Chelsea striker.
