Leeds United's failure to win promotion has left them vulnerable to losing several key players in the summer, with Kalvin Phillips a man in-demand.

The defensive midfielder was one of the outstanding performers in the Championship this season, with his role crucial to the way Marcelo Bielsa has got Leeds playing.

Therefore, it's no surprise to see the likes of Norwich and Bournemouth are offering Phillips a chance to play in the top-flight next season. Obviously, that's a massive worry for Leeds and they won't want to lose such an influential member of the team.

And, it will also present Phillips with a real dilemma.

On one hand, the Whites are a club that are close to his heart having come through the ranks, so the chance to help them reach the Premier League has to be his target and under Bielsa it does seem possible.

Yet, the 23-year-old will have his own ambitions for his career and there's no doubt that playing at the highest level is one of those, which means turning down a potential move can be seen as a big risk.

Even though he may seem a long way off right now, Phillips should have aspirations of breaking into the England squad but that's not going to happen whilst he is playing in the second tier.

Of course, there are also massive financial incentives to leaving Elland Road and that will have to be taken into consideration from the players perspective.

Ultimately, it's a real crossroads moment for Phillips in his career and an outsider may see the benefits to the midfielder if he pushes for a move.

If that proves to be the case it will put Leeds in a very tricky position as they seek a replacement, even if they do land a big-money fee.
