Conor Shaughnessy looks set to join Scottish Premier League side Heart of Midlothian on loan for the rest of the season in search of first team football.

He's been on the periphery at Elland Road this season, overtaken by Finland Under 21 star Aapo Halme in the pecking order for a first team place.

He was spotted at the Edinburgh derby on December 29th and is now likely to leave for five months looking for vital experience and exposure to senior action.

He is one of a number of Leeds players who would surely benefit from a move away from Elland Road, be it to Scotland or elsewhere in the EFL. The exposure Shaughnessy will receive will include huge matches against Celtic and Rangers, as well as rather low key affairs against the likes of Hamilton.

That sort of variation will be vital to the youngster and will help his parent club ascertain his true potential. We look at three other Leeds United players that we believe would benefit from a temporary switch.

Dalby joined from Leyton Orient long before Bielsa took over at the club, but he's been confined to the Under 23s this season.

He needs senior football to thrive, but his level would surely be League Two. If he got a chance, there's every likelihood he'd turn into a more robust striker, but he has to be exposed to competitive action.

Davis has appeared in the Championship this season, but one match is the sum total of his exposure to proper action.

The 19-year old came through the academy at Morecambe before being snapped up by Leeds and having had a taste of first team action, it stands to reasons he'd like more.

He's be a great signing for a League Two club looking for a full back.

Clarke Odour made his debut this weekend as QPR beat the Whites 2-1 in the FA Cup third round and that suggests he's rated as being close to the first team squad.

The final nudge he might need is a spell in League One, maybe even the SPL, just to get him fully prepared for the trials and tribulations of senior football.
