Leeds United will be hoping for a busy end to the window as they look to build a squad that is capable of challenging for promotion.

The potential signing of Barry Douglas would be a coup for the club, however further additions are needed – particularly up top.

The Whites didn’t have a prolific goalscorer last season and have failed to replace Chris Wood who moved to Burnley 12 months ago.

However, one man they have been linked with is Jordan Hugill. The target man made a surprise move to West Ham from Preston in the January window but struggled to make a positive impression.

With Manuel Pellegrini now in charge of the Hammers, the 26-year old is going to struggle to play and is expected to leave, with Leeds seriously interested in him.

And, here we look at how signing Hugill would impact two current forwards at Elland Road…

The young striker still hasn’t made his competitive debut for Leeds since joining in January after suffering a shin injury.

However, he is back fit now and playing in pre-season but the arrival of Hugill would limit his game time.

Marcelo Bielsa prefers to play with one striker and the former Preston man would only join Leeds if he was to play, so Roberts would be pushed out wide or restricted to substitute appearances initially.

With Bielsa’s tendency to play with one central forward, Hugill’s arrival means Roofe wouldn’t play in his preferred striker position.

The former Oxford man can play in a variety of roles in the final third but looked most effective and scored most of his goals as a number nine last season.
