Leeds United’s 2017/18 campaign was a huge disappointment, with the Whites failing to mount the promotion push many at Elland Road were hoping for.

Despite a fast start under Thomas Christiansen, Leeds eventually stumbled to 13th, with Paul Heckingbottom at the helm.

Planning will already be underway at Elland Road ahead of the 2018/19 campaign, as Leeds look to end a wait for a Premier League return that stretches all the way back to 2004.

Additions are going to be made to Leeds’ squad this summer, with a huge switching focus to the domestic market. Of course, others will depart too, with some of the players at Elland Road not in the standard required to be pushing for promotion.

Here at FLW, we take a look at Leeds’ squad, identifying THREE men who could be axed over the course of the summer if they don’t prove themselves to the management team…

Lonergan isn’t going to be first choice next season, but he needs to prove that he’s worth a place in the squad at Elland Road.

The goalkeeper endured a tricky return to Leeds, with a number of mistakes costing him a place in the side.

It’s a big pre-season for Lonergan.

Leeds are chasing a deal for Kyle Bartley.

If Pontus Jansson stays, him and Bartley will be Leeds’ first choice centre-back pairing next season, leaving Cooper as third choice.

Cooper was Leeds’ captain last season and after a tricky campaign, could find himself fighting for his future.

He needs a big pre-season.

Ekuban’s goalscoring form in the last 12 months has been woeful, with the striker looking well short of confidence.

His general play is often impressive, but he fails to score important chances, which has cost Leeds on more than one occasion.

Ekuban needs to show his finishing is improving this summer, or it could cost him his future at Elland Road.
