Steve Bruce will be fairly content with what has happened at Sheffield Wednesday so far with him arriving officially at the start of this month.

They are in decent form under his tenure and have tightened up defensively - even if they did concede against Rotherham United last time out.

Further down, too, they've got some bright young players to look out for - and Conor Grant would appear the latest.

The 17-year-old shone for the Owls last night in the Professional Development League against Sheffield United as they won 2-1 - with him scoring and assisting during the game.

This was more impressive, too, as he stood out in a side that boasted senior players getting match fitness, the likes of Sam Winnall and Rolando Aarons for example.

With Steve Bruce and Steve Agnew watching on, the youngster pulled the strings and, given some of the players to have broken into the first team this year, this performance will have done him no harm of doing the same.

Matt Penney, Jordan Thorniley and Ash Baker have all featured this season and look decent players, Grant will be of the view that he can be the next in the coming campaigns.

Bruce, of course, will only play young players if they really are good enough but, after watching on last night, he'll have Grant near the top of his watchlist.
