Nottingham Forest will be looking to pick up much-needed points when they return to action this weekend in the Championship.

The Reds held promotion-chasing Watford in midweek at the City Ground, and will be keen to build on a well-disciplined defensive display.

They face a tricky test up against Reading at the Madejski Stadium though, with the Royals wanting to get back to winning ways, after being held to a draw by Sheffield Wednesday recently.

The Royals are currently sat fourth in the Championship table, and Chris Hughton will know that his side will have to be aware of the threat posed by the Berkshire-based side.

Hughton will be hoping that he can have some of his key players back in the starting XI for this one, with the Forest boss having a depleted squad in recent weeks.

Jack Colback remains out, as Forest wait to find out the extent of his injury, which saw him withdrawn against Swansea City last weekend.

Lewis Grabban, Tyler Blackett, Samba Sow and Fouad Bachirou are nearing a return to full fitness, although it remains to be seen as to whether they'll be involved against the Royals on Saturday in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

There are also questions as to whether defender Scott McKenna will be deemed fit enough to feature against Veljko Paunovic's side, with the Scotsman missing the draw against Watford on Wednesday evening.

Hughton issued promising update after their draw with Watford, and labelled it as 'encouraging' to see some of his players return to fitness ahead of the festive period.

"We had Cafu and Joe [Worrall] who played their first games for some time, it was certainly Cafu’s first start and that is encouraging. We had Michael Dawson on the bench too.

"Apart from the fact that we lost Jack [Colback], and that will be determined how long we have lost him for, we are getting some bodies back so it is encouraging."
