Bristol City host Brentford on New Year's Day at Ashton Gate, with both sides in and around the playoff places as they hunt for a spot in the Premier League for the 2020-2021 season.

Lee Johnson will have his fair share of injury concerns heading into the game, as he will be hoping for a fully fit squad at his disposal to provide him with different options both in the starting eleven and on the bench.

Centre-back Nathan Baker missed the games against Charlton Athletic and Luton Town over the festive period with an unspecified knock, and he faces a race against time to get back to full fitness for Brentford's visit.

Attacker, and summer signing, Sammie Szmodics has also missed the past couple of games because of a ligament injury in his knee, but it is unclear whether he will be available for the Brentford game tomorrow afternoon.

Striker Marley Watkins is back to full fitness following an ankle injury, having started and scored against Luton Town on Sunday.

Left-back Jay Dasilva continues to build up his match sharpness, having featured in the past two games for the Robins after spending four months on the sidelines with a stress fracture in his lower leg, sustained against Leeds United on the opening day.

Dasilva signed for the club permanently in the summer from Chelsea after spending last season on loan at Ashton Gate.

Apart from Baker and Szmodics, City have no fresh injury concerns with everyone getting through the test against Luton and no new injuries being reported from training in the past couple of days.
