Charlton striker Lyle Taylor made his first appearance since late August over the weekend, but he could not prevent his side from suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of Middlesbrough on Teesside.

Lee Bowyer's side failed to recover after falling behind to George Saville's first-minute goal, with Taylor's half-time introduction still not proving to be enough to help Charlton seal their first victory since mid-October.

Taylor made a fine start to the season by scoring five goals in his first six games, but he had been out of action since sustaining a knee injury while on international duty with Montserrat in early September.

The 29-year-old's absence has formed a part of Charlton's serious injury crisis in recent weeks - which has seen more than 10 players sidelined with problems - but Taylor is now back in contention ahead of his side's clash with Huddersfield in midweek.
