Hull City didn't have a season as successful as they would've hoped for last season and ended up finishing the year sat 19th in the table.

However, following the takeover of the club by Acun Ilicali, the club are in a position to be adding to their squad this summer in the hope that they can push further up the table next season.

One of the incoming signings looks to be Turkish player Ozan Tufan who has agreed personal terms with the club and is on the brink of signing a permanent deal.

Therefore, we asked FLW's Hull City fan pundit Ant his thoughts on the transfer: " I don't think a lot of City fans will know who he is.

"He was on loan at Watford, it didn't quite work out there.

"If you look into it it looks like he had a bit of a mismatched pre-season that didn't really get him up to scratch and wasn't able then to fully delve into the requirements of the Premier League but Acun has said in multiple interviews that he's only going to sign players who want to be here and there's a lot of good things.

He's held in high regard in his country, he's capped over 6o times for Turkey so he must be a good player to be capped that many times on the international stage and if we're looking at progressing to be a side that's going to challenge the top ten or the top six then he's probably going to be the kind of addition we need.

"Bit of international experience, bit of knowhow, may be good for him to have a season or two in the Championship at this level just to help him find his creative best.

"I think he had something like 16 goal contributions last season so if you add that into a midfield which already contains the likes of George Honeyman and if we keep hold of Keane Lewis-Potter then he's going to be a very good addition because I think creatively the midfield does need a bit more because we rely upon Honeyman far too much.

"So if he can be that next step up and the support that Honeyman needs so that we can have a couple more prongs to our attack in games then I think he'll definitely be a good signing."

The Verdict:

It's probably not the first name people would call out when asked who they want to sign and it will require some work from both the player and the club if this transfer is to work.

However, as Ant says, clearly he has talent given the number of caps he's got for Turkey and although his time at Watford didn't go to plan, it wasn't the most stable environment over the past season.

Therefore, with a good pre-season on his side, this could prove to be a good signing and one that the Tigers need.
