Swansea City ensured they will maintain their unbeaten away record heading into the international break as they sealed a 2-2 against Sheffield Wednesday courtesy of Ben Wilmot's injury-time goal.

Andre Ayew had given the Swans the lead inside the first half before goals Fernando Forestieri and Morgan Fox put the Owls ahead inside the final 10 minutes, but Wilmot then struck at the death to ensure Swansea had the last laugh.

The result means Steve Cooper's side are still yet to lose in their eight away games so far this term, while they have now claimed an impressive total of seven points from their last three matches against Cardiff, Wigan and Wednesday.

The last two of these matches have seen the Swans score crucial goals in stoppage time, with Sam Surridge nodding home a 93rd-minute winner against Wigan last weekend before Wilmot's late effort at Hillsborough on Saturday.

This is a trend that will certainly be pleasing for Swansea fans, particularly seeing as this is something the Swans struggled to add to their game last term, and it is hard to envisage that last season's side would have managed to gain a point from the Wednesday match.

Swansea played some exciting football as they rediscovered their possession-based identity under Graham Potter last season, but it is clear that Cooper has tried to build on this by adding an element of resilience to the team. This was clear to see on Saturday.

The Welsh side's never-say-die attitude is also reflected by the fact they have managed to seal their fair share of positive results this season without always playing to their full potential.

Swansea fans would of course ideally like to see their team dismantle teams in style with the quick and attacking football they are capable of delivering, but the fact Swansea are able to grind out results should also be a source of pride in its own right.

The next step for the Liberty Stadium outfit is to now maintain this resilience while starting to deliver high-level performances on a consistent basis, as this would then make them a serious force to be reckoned with this term.

Cooper's side have already shown enough quality since the start of the season to suggest they could be serious promotion contenders, but there is still the feeling in South Wales that they are still yet to hit their top level.

The Swans could use their recent run of good form to provide a springboard towards this, and they could then cement their place in the play-off positions heading into the new year.
