Millwall goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski has been in fine-form for the Lions this season, and he could be a key man in giving Gary Rowett a good start to life at The Den.

Polish keeper Bartosz Bialkowski joined Millwall in the summer on a season-long loan from relegated Ipswich Town.

He’s played all but one of Millwall’s Championship games this season, keeping two clean sheets in that time.

Fans have quickly grown fond of the 32-year-old, who’d spent five season’s at Ipswich having joined from Notts County in 2014.

Bialkowski moved to England in 2006 to join Southampton from Polish league side Gornick Zabrze.

He spent six years with the Saints, where he was largely used as a back-up keeper - he made just 42 appearances for Southampton in that time.

But having impressed at relegated Ipswich last season, Neil Harris was keen to bring him to The Den.

So far he’s proved a cunning signing. He’s a commanding force at the back and a fine shot-stopper, and he could well be the man to give Gary Rowett the start to life at Millwall that he’ll be hoping for.

Rowett takes charge with the Lions in 17th-place of the Championship - five points off Huddersfield in 22nd.

His first game in charge will be against the club who sacked him in January, Stoke City. Rowett had overseen a summer spending spree with the Potters, but was sacked after less than eight months in charge with his side 14th in the Championship.

History will make his first game as Millwall manager that extra bit interesting, as he aims to steady the ship and secure their Championship status for next season.

Bialkowski has cemented his starting spot in goal for Millwall.

Frank Fielding started the season as the number one, but was forced off half-way through the opening game of the season against Preston, and hasn't featured for the club since.

Luke Steele has been making the goalkeeper vacancy on the bench, but neither he nor Fielding can get a sniff at the first-team with Bialkowski's recent performances.

He'll be wishing for more clean sheets as the season goes on, and Rowett will be thankful that he has a safe pair of hands in Bialkowski for at least the rest of this season.
