It's been a tough season for Cardiff City down in the Championship, and there's hope amongst their supporters that Neil Warnock might be able to lead them towards the play-offs next time out.

The Bluebirds had been struggling down towards the bottom of the table for the majority of the campaign, but some solid end-of-season form meant they pulled away with a couple of months to go.

But next season, there's going to be aspirations to mount a push for the play-offs if the squad can really pick it up and there's one man who has been lighting up League One this season, who might be a superb addition.

The man in question? Irish international Simon Cox, who has been in stunning form for Southend United this campaign.

The former West Brom man has scored 16 times, creating eight assists in the process as Southend missed out on the play-offs by just one point.

It was agonising stuff for Cox and his team but after such a good season, surely there will be teams chasing his signature over the coming months.

And we think he'd be a superb fit at Cardiff, where the goals haven't exactly been flowing this season. Granted, Kenneth Zahore is finally beginning to show some good form but moving forward, the Bluebirds will need so much more in the striking ranks if they are to even think about challenging for the top-six next season.

Cox is a player who deserves another chance to shine at this level and considering he's rated at just £638,000 by Transfermarkt, he might be a bargain buy too.
