Lewis McGugan has recently been talking Nottingham Forest's chances of promotion, speaking on popular radio station TalkSPORT.

The Reds have enjoyed a hugely positive campaign under Sabri Lamouchi, and have a real chance of finishing in the Championship's play-off positions this season.

Automatic promotion may now be unrealistic for Lamouchi's men, but they still sit five points clear of seventh place with only nine games remaining this campaign.

McGugan is no stranger to a promotion battle with the Reds, helping the club reach two play-off semi-finals in both 2010 and 2011.

Forest suffered defeat in both of those semi-finals, but the former Reds midfielder has insisted that the current group of players have a big chance of reaching the Premier League this term.

He said: "I think they are more than capable [of earning promotion]. When the manager came in, a lot of people hadn’t heard of him and there was a lot of negative responses, but he’s answered them and I think he’s got the team and squad playing fantastically.

"The biggest thing that they are is pretty consistent. They have a few slips every now and again, which has probably halted them from being even higher, but I think they have a great chance."

McGugan was a popular during his seven-year stay on Trentside, with the midfielder making over 220 appearances for Forest and scoring 44 goals in total.

Now without a club, McGugan's comments have prompted Forest fans into discussing their favourite memories of the 31-year-old.
