It's been a strong season for Barnsley in the Championship, and there's hope amongst Tykes fans that the improvements can carry on into the next campaign.

Paul Heckingbottom's team turned a real corner last season as they survived quite comfortably, turning in some impressive results along the way.

But going forward, it's important the Tykes take this good form into next season and don't slip up at the first attempt, especially after surviving so comfortably this time out.

And there's one man we at the FLW think would be a cracking addition to the squad down at Oakwell and that's Newcastle defender Massadio Haidara.

The 24-year-old left-back has struggled for first-team action this campaign thanks to the superb form that has been shown by Paul Dummett, who has been pretty irreplaceable as Rafa's team waltzed towards the Championship title.

But going forward, the former AS Nancy man needs to be playing first-team football having arrived in the North East back in 2013 with a real reputation.

Of course, managerial change never makes things easier for certain individuals but for Haidara, a move away might be the best thing for his career.

And at a club like Barnsley, Haidara would be joining a group of players that have done superbly well this campaign but probably need a little bit more quality to keep that good form going.

Haidara has shown some superb glimmers of form when given the chance but it seems that his future certainly lies away from St James' Park for the time being at least.

His contract is up next summer so Barnsley could get him on a cut-price deal, if they do decide to make a move.
