Bolton Wanderers were many pundits' favourites for relegation from the Championship this season, but they have proved the doubters wrong with a cracking start to the season under manager Phil Parkinson.

Wanderers recent history both on and off the pitch has not been great since the heady days under Sam Allardyce.

Here our team give their assessment of the most shocking moment at Bolton in the last three years.

We discuss.....

Jay Taylor

I would say it was during a relegation six-pointer against Burton Albion last season when Bolton fans tried to get to manager Phil Parkinson trailing the Brewers 2-0.

Fans trying to charge at the Bolton boss had to be restrained by stewards.

Wanderers avoided relegation so it makes those scenes even more shocking.

George Dagless

Perhaps more surprising than shocking but over the summer the failure to pay wages.

That's still going on to this day and Karl Henry has called the club out asking things to get sorted.

On the pitch, they are looking good but this is becoming a real blot and it's something that could cause real issues in the future.

Gary Hutchinson

Finishing bottom in 2016.

They were a proud top-flight club and should never have fallen into League One.

The impact of that hit is still being felt today.

They’re a long way from the side Allardyce built, although Phil Parkinson is doing a grand job.
