Crystal Palace have become the latest team to have a reported interest in West Bromwich Albion attacker Oliver Burke.

The Daily Record is reporting that the on-loan Celtic star is being persued by the Premier League side in the hope of coaxing him to Croydon in the summer.

Having impressed at Park Head, it has alerted the Eagles’ director of football Dougie Freedman to his availability.

Freedman is said to be a huge admirer of the 21-year-old’s, and that could end up with the Selhurst Park outfit enquiring about his services come the summer.

Burke has scored five goals in 14 appearances for Neil Lennon’s side having been deployed as a striker for most of his time north of the border.

The attacker still has three years to run on his current contract at the Hawthorns but has been deemed surplus to requirements at Albion.

With that said, would Burke’s move to Crystal Palace be a good one?

We asked our team of FLW writers their thoughts…

Jay Taylor

“This would be a typical Palace signing for me.

“They love a pacey winger, and I think that is where he would play – out wide.

“Roy Hodgson is the type of manager that would put his arm around him and tell him how great he is.

“That would help him settle and feel wanted as that has not happened at West Brom.”

Gary Hutchinson

"Burke would be a great signing for Palace, but I can't see it happening.

"If the Baggies let him go, surely he's going to want to stay at Celtic.

"His next move is crucial. He has to get it right."

George Harbey

“I think this would be the ideal move for Burke.

“Let’s face it, he isn’t going to improve as a player in Celtic as much as he would in England, and he hasn’t got a future at West Brom.

“Palace’s style of play would suit him to a tee, and he’d an excellent signing for the Eagles.”

Ben Lang

“Burke failed to cut it for West Brom, but he has rediscovered his form at Celtic

“Palace are clearly keen on his signature as they also tried to sign him previously.

“With this trust shown in him, he would be a good addition to their squad by providing some attacking depth.

“He is also young, so has real potential to go on and become a key player for the Eagles in the future.”
