Danny Cowley will be hoping to pick up a win in his first game in charge of Huddersfield Town this weekend, as the Terriers prepare to take on Sheffield Wednesday at the John Smith's Stadium.

The Terriers finally got their man when they appointed the former Lincoln City boss on Monday afternoon, replacing Jan Siewert who was sacked three games into the season.

It has been a terrible start to proceedings for Town - the Terriers have lost five of their opening six league games, and currently occupy 23rd spot in the Sky Bet Championship table.

But now, the club will be hoping that the appointment of Cowley propels them into life, and they will now be looking to push up the table under the watchful eye of the 40-year-old.

It's a real coup for Huddersfield to lure Cowley away from Sincil Bank - Danny, and his brother Nicky, completely transformed Lincoln's fortunes, leading them from the National League to League One in the space of three years.

Winning two league titles and a Checkatrade Trophy along the way, he's one of the most promising up and coming managers in the EFL, and will be hoping to bring the good times back to Huddersfield.

This week would have been crucial for Cowley, with his new group of players returning to training after a short international break, with their batteries recharged.

Cowley's appointment gives those players who failed to make an impact under Siewert, the chance to start afresh and turn over a new leaf.

One player who should be delighted with Cowley's appointment is summer signing Reece Brown - a player who will know all about Lincoln's successes over the last couple of years.

The 23-year-old signed for Huddersfield after an outstanding season for Forest Green Rovers in League Two last season, where he established himself as one of the best players in the fourth tier.

The box-to-box midfielder scored 11 goals and produced a large amount of assists in all competitions for Mark Cooper's side last season, as Rovers were defeated in the play-off semi-finals by eventual winners Tranmere.

Brown is yet to make an impact since making the move to Huddersfield though, making only one appearance thus far which came against Lincoln in the Carabao Cup.

Cowley will know just how good of a player Brown is, after his Lincoln side were challenged by Forest Green for a promotion spot for large spells of last season.

Cowley likes his midfield to play with plenty of energy, and also loves his midfield to get on the scoresheet, with Lincoln looking dangerous in every area of the pitch going forward.

Brown is a player who would flourish under his management. He loves to get the ball to feet, drive forward with it and cause problems for the opposition, which is exactly what Huddersfield have been missing in the opening stages of the season.

He hasn't showed Town fans what he's all about just yet, but he could be given a lifeline following the appointment of Cowley.
