Leeds United have invested heavily in youth recruitment over the past two transfer windows, with U23’s manager Carlos Corberan benefiting from an influx of extremely talented youngsters into the squad.

One such man to arrive is 20-year-old striker Oliver Sarkic, with the Montenegro U21 international linking up with the club from Portuguese giants Benfica on a season-long loan deal in the summer, before committing to a permanent switch in January.

The youngster has impressed in the reserve set up at Elland Road, and despite his extraordinary background of being a graduate of the Benfica academy and a Montenegro youth international, was actually born in the north Lincolnshire town of Grimsby.

Performing well back in the UK, Sarkic bagged today for the reserves as Leeds take on Nottingham Forest at Thorp Arch, with fans having their say on the player’s latest goalscoring antics…
