He may not have featured for Leeds United against Middlesbrough, but Kalvin Phillips still managed to make quite an impression.

The midfielder travelled with Marcelo Bielsa's squad for the Championship clash at the Riverside Stadium - a game which saw the Whites strengthen their promotion push with a 1-0 victory.

Despite missing out on the game itself, Phillips played a key role for the Whites as he joined the team pre and post-match, while also spending time with a number of young fans.

Although he was part of the travelling party, the 24-year-old made a special effort to spend time with the young Middlesbrough mascots on the night - something which made quite an impression on the young supporters.

The mascots' father posted on social media after the game, saying: "The kids were mascots tonight & loved meeting all the Boro players & staff who were class but I need to call out how amazing Leeds United player Kalvin Phillips was in and around the tunnel with everyone.

"This guy has the right attitude as well as the talent."

The verdict

Is there nothing that this lad can't do?

Kalvin Phillips has already made quite an impression on the pitch after establishing himself as one of Leeds United's most important players.

However now it seems that he's making an impact off the field.

Footballers often forget their position as role models for young fans and the experience of these mascots who got to meet the Leeds star is something that they'll likely remember forever.

It's great that Phillips is a good player but the fact that he seems to be a good person is even more important.
