Blackburn Rovers earned bragging rights last night following an impressive 3-0 win at Lancashire rivals Preston North End.

Tony Mowbray’s side have been building up some momentum in recent weeks, and their victory at Deepdale made it eight points from four matches in November.

With Barry Douglas back in the side and the influential Bradley Dack close to returning from his 11-month ACL injury, Rovers are beginning to look real force in the Championship top-six race.

What is Bradley Dack's squad number?

Tuesday’s three points saw the Ewood Park outfit climb up to 10th-place in the second-tier standings, just four points adrift of those all-important play-off places.

However, they were given a helping hand by their rivals – with Preston’s Joe Rafferty sent off in first-half stoppage-time, leaving Adam Armstrong to stroke home the resulting penalty.

But the second period belonged to Ben Brereton, who doubled Rovers’ lead with a clinical finish eight minutes after the break, before turning provider for Tyrhys Dolan to tap home Blackburn’s third.

Brereton now has three goals and three assists in 13 Championship matches, and the Ewood Park faithful took to Twitter to react to his performance in Lancashire.
