There's a big season on the horizon for Steve Bruce and Aston Villa, with the pressure truly on the first-team to perform a lot better than they did last time out.

Villa crumbled during large parts of last season's campaign as their rivals raced ahead in the chase for promotion at the top of the table.

Unlike Newcastle, who made an instant return to the Premier League, Villa didn't really build any sort of momentum in their attempts to climb up the division and at one point, their poor form saw the pressure increase on the shoulders of manager Steve Bruce.

But with some strong summer additions and a solid pre-season campaign, there's hope down in the Midlands that Villa could be on the way up once again.

However, we at the FLW think the answer could lie closer to home and one man we're tipping for a big season at Villa Park is former Swansea City full-back Neil Taylor.

The 28-year-old knows this level well having been part of the Swansea side that were promoted from the second tier in the 2010-2011 campaign and has played in the Premier League ever since.

You get the impression that Villa missed having a few individuals on their books last season that had actually done the whole Championship title race and at times, the spine of the squad looked a little threadbare.

But Taylor is the sort of player that can slot in and replace Amavi in the defence, with the Frenchman surely having run his cause in the Midlands after a sub-standard season last time out.

Taylor might not be the most attacking individual but he's solid and knows this level well- it will stand Villa in very good stead in their chase for promotion next season.
