Birmingham City are certainly a team to keep an eye on when the new Championship season gets underway in August.

Now led by Harry Redknapp, these are exciting times down at St Andrews and after the trials and tribulations over the past decade, it’s rare to see such optimism flowing around the Midlands.

Financial difficulties, managerial departures and a last-ditch effort to preserve their Championship status on the final day of last season has meant a roller coaster ride for the die-hard Bluenoses that have stuck with their team over the past few years.

But with experienced Harry Redknapp at the helm and transfer business starting overwhelmingly well with the addition of in-demand Brighton keeper David Stockdale, things are beginning to look up.

However, as with any club that has faced managerial change, things are expected to be shaken up over the coming weeks and months at St Andrews and there’s a number of players that might get left behind as a result.

And one of the men we predict a difficult future for in the Midlands is striker Nikolai Brock Madsen, who’s long-term career at the club is looking unclear.

A Gary Rowett signing, the Danish forward, signed for around £600,000 from Randers in the summer of 2015, was shipped out on-loan to PEC Zwolle in the Eredivise this season, where had limited effect, scoring just eight goals all season.

He’s a man that underwhelmed when given the opportunity at St Andrews too, failing to score in eight appearances. He divides the home faithful in the fact we haven’t seen an awful lot of him on home turf to make a really accurate judgement about his abilities but the fact of the matter is that things are finally starting to look up for the Blues and they can’t be waiting around for players who haven’t performed.

He hardly set the Eredivise on fire and going forward, he’s a man that might run into difficulty when it comes to getting games if he is kept on by Harry Redknapp.

There was some promise when he did arrive but now, he’s a player that should be sold on to make room in the squad for Harry’s in-comings.
