Illan Meslier has taken to Instagram to express his delight at appearing in his first Leeds match, albeit an U23s fixture against Millwall.

The goalkeeper signed on loan until the end of the season from Lorient earlier this month, but it is likely the 19-year-old will have to wait a while for his first senior appearance, as Kiko Casilla has started the season in fine form.

He was victorious in his first appearance for the club as Leeds ran out 3-2 winners, with Helder Costa and Eddie Nketiah also featuring - with the latter getting on the scoresheet.

Meslier impressed despite conceding twice, although Millwall's first was the result of a rebound from Meslier's brilliant penalty save, so he can consider himself unlucky in that department.

He is yet to make a professional appearance but if he continues to play well then he should provide competition for Casilla's place, and could be ready if the Spaniard gets injured.

Many Leeds fans have responded well to the post, praising him for his performance and penalty save. Here are some of their reactions.
