Reading will be desperate to get as many points on the board between now and the end of the season as they look to remain afloat in the Championship.

They are currently on course to secure their survival - but they haven't been in the best form recently and will be hoping to get to the 50-point mark sooner rather than later before thinking about next season.

With the Royals having to contend with tough transfer restrictions, just surviving would be a success this season, although some would argue that Paul Ince should be getting more out of his squad at this stage.

The fact he's one of the longer-serving managers in the division has to be commended though, managing to guide the Berkshire outfit to survival during the latter stages of last season and keeping their head above water this season.

Their supporters will be reasonably pleased with their current position considering many of them believed they would be in a relegation scrap this season, although they could still be dragged into the bottom end of the division if they aren't careful. So far, so good though.

And speaking of their fans, we take a look at four famous faces who are known to support the Royals.

Chris Tarrant

The broadcaster is perhaps best known for formerly presenting ITV game show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

Jeremy Clarkson may be the host now - but Tarrant enjoyed plenty of highlights during his time in the chair - handing out £1m cheques to a handful of players including Charles Ingram who then went on to be convicted after cheating his way to the top prize!

Tarrant has appeared on other shows too, presenting a Channel 5 series on extreme railways and also hosting radio shows on Capital and the BBC.

Also releasing a book last year on his time in television, it remains to be seen whether he's prepared to retire yet and focus more on the Royals!

He doesn't like to use his fame to promote the club he supports though - and just prefers to go to the football as a regular fan.

Damian Green

Another recognisable name in this list is Green, who served as Theresa May's First Secretary of State during the early stages of her premiership, also taking up the roles of Work and Pensions Secretary and Minister for the Cabinet Office under the same Prime Minister.

He was first made a minister by May's predecessor David Cameron though, serving in the Home Office.

Remaining a Member of Parliament for Ashford, he isn't in Rishi Sunak's cabinet but has taken up another important post as the Acting Chair of the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee.

He also joined one of The Tilehurst End's Twitter spaces recently, so he's certainly still interested in the Berkshire outfit!

Martin Salter

The former Labour MP is also believed to be a supporter of the Berkshire outfit, something that will come as no real surprise considering he was Reading West's Member of Parliament.

He was one of many Labour politicians to unseat a Tory during the 1997 election, with Tony Blair securing a landslide victory over John Major to put his party back in government for the first time since 1979.

He remained an MP for 13 years, retaining his seat twice in 2001 and 2005 before deciding to step down ahead of 2010.

The 68-year-old may have been unseated by Alok Sharma if he had stood during the latter election - and probably made an exit from the House of Commons at the right time with the Tories and the Liberal Democrats forming a coalition during that year.

Simon Gallup

62-year-old Gallup is part of well-known band The Cure - and has proudly showcased his team's colours on multiple occasions - including at Glastonbury in 2019.

Leaving the band on multiple occasions, he now seems to be back with them and should still have several years left in the tank in the alternative rock scene.

He was also a member of Fools Dance during the 1980s before they ceased to exist.
