Middlesbrough are a side flying in the Championship right now.

With yet another convincing victory at the weekend - a 3-0 thumping of strugglers Blackpool - Boro maintained their third-place position in the second tier standings.

Furthermore, with Sheffield United in second drawing away at Rotherham, the gap between them and Boro was reduced to ten points, offering Carrick's side a glimmer of hope when it comes to a potential automatic promotion.

If Boro were to close that gap and go up automatically, or via the play-offs, they would have a number of famous faces cheering them on, with the club having a number of celebrity supporters.

We've identified three below but let us know if we missed anyone big in the comments below.

Chris Kamara

A name familiar to football fans right across the country, Chris Kamara is reportedly a Middlesbrough supporter.

The former footballer turned TV personality was born in the town before beginning his playing career at Portsmouth.

Kamara has previously discussed his relationship with current Middlesbrough chairman Steve Gibson, with the pair having grew up together in the town and regularly attended Middlesbrough matches.

In an article a long while ago, Kamara wrote: "My ambition as a kid, growing up in Middlesbrough, was to play for my home-town club."

"I supported the Boro from the boys' pen and the Holgate End alongside current Boro chairman Steve Gibson."

James Arthur

Like Chris Kamara, James Arthur was also born in the town of Middlesbrough and is a fan of his local club.

The English singer and songwriter burst onto the scene when winning the X-Factor back in 2012.

Since then, the now 34-year-old has gone on to release four studio albums, with a number one under his belt with 'Back from the Edge' in 2016.

Back in 2016, Arthur has turned out for the 'Middlesbrough Supporters South' in a match in London.

Bob Mortimer

Last but not least, and yet another name born in Middlesbrough, comedy legend Bob Mortimer is also a Boro supporter.

In an interview with Four Four Two previously, Mortimer discussed his love of Juninho and revealed the first game he ever saw was at Middlesbrough's ground.

He revealed on his first ever match: "Italy vs North Korea at Middlesbrough’s Ayresome Park in the group stage of the 1966 World Cup.

"I have no memory of it other than being lifted over the turnstile by my dad to get in for free."

Mortimer added that his childhood hero was former Boro player John Hickton: "Football-wise, it was John Hickton."

"I never met him but I did get quite close to him when he opened a toy shop in Middlesbrough.

"He wore a fur-collared sheepskin coat and I’ve wanted one ever since."
