Wolverhampton Wanderers entertain Bristol Rovers at Molineux this evening, with boss Nuno Espirito Santo set to make changes to the side that beat Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

The Portuguese boss has spent big this summer to turn Wolves into title contenders, but in the midst of a gruelling run of games, the squad will be rotated against their opponents from League One.

The club sit second in the Championship, level on points with Leeds United, and Santo will be delighted with the impact his new men have made during their short time with the club.

However, players need a rest, no matter how early into the season we are, and fringe players could be provided with the perfect opportunity to prove to their boss that they are worthy of a place in his squad, or even the starting XI.

With that in mind, this is the experimental side Santo could field tonight at Molineux.

Will Norris, a summer signing from Cambridge United, should get the nod in goal ahead of John Ruddy.

The 24-year-old is deserved of a chance in the fixture, and Santo will surely be keen to see what the young man can do in competitive competition.

Keeping the formation consistent with that of the league side, the three at the back may consist of Conor Coady and Danny Batth, with young defender Ben Goodliffe coming in from the U23’s to allow Roderick Miranda a well-earned rest.

Sylvain Deslandes should get the start in one of the wing-back roles having come off the bench against Forest, with Matt Doherty likely to continue on the other flank.

Midfield could see youngsters Jack Price and Connor Ronan earn starts, with the young pair making the matchday squad at the weekend.

Ivan Cavaleiro may start on one side of the attack, with Ben Marshall on the other, and Santo may consider giving striker Leo Bonatini a rest by playing Bright Enobakhare in the central role.

This Wolves outfit allows for rotation, recuperation and experience, and should be good enough to see the club safely into the next round.

Wolves fans, what do you make of this XI?
