The experienced Championship winger that would be a shrewd Sheffield Wednesday signing

Sheffield Wednesday have shown signs of improvement in recent weeks, pulling themselves away from the relegation zone but this cannot mask the fact that it has been a miserable season at Hillsborough.

The Owls are 16th in the league table and sit 12 points clear of the drop zone but they began this season with ambitions of promotion.

Therefore, it has been a bitterly disappointing season but manager Jos Luhukay will already be thinking about how he can strengthen his squad this summer and push for a play-off spot at the very least next term.

FLW shine a spotlight on Wolves winger Ben Marshall, currently starring on loan at Sheffield Wednesday, and consider whether he would be a good signing for the Owls.

Ben Marshall’s form has improved drastically since he moved to Millwall in the January transfer window as he was handed more game time.

The former Blackburn man has netted three goals and added a further eight assists in his 13 appearances for the Lions, helping them to rise up the table and enter the play-off zone.

Marshall has been an integral part of that Millwall side after injecting a bit of creativity into their midfield.

He makes more than two key passes per game and the likes of Jordan Rhodes, Lucas Joao and Fernando Forestieri would thrive from that sort of service.

Another positive of signing Marshall would be his versatility.

He is naturally a winger but is also able to play as a right back, left back, or he can operate anywhere across the midfield.

Millwall are likely to be priced out of a permanent deal and Wolves will be keen to let him go as he is not on their agenda for next season’s Premier League campaign.

Sheffield Wednesday would be an ideal destination for 27-year-old, who previously had a loan spell at Hillsborough in the 2011/12 season.

And the Owls could benefit from having someone with so much Championship experience and so much talent defensively and going forward.
