The experienced £1.7m-rated midfielder that Nottingham Forest should finally sign

After securing their Championship safety on ‘Survival Sunday’, Nottingham Forest boss Mark Warburton can finally start preparing for next season.

Unpopular owner Fawaz Al Hasawi finally looks set to depart the club with Olympiacos owner Evangelos Marinakis finally close to buying the East Midlands club meaning there could be funds to spend in the summer.

Despite staying up by the skin of their teeth the Reds undoubtedly have a talented squad and could be in the mix for promotion next season with the right additions.

Mark Warburton has already revealed that he wants to add four or five experienced Championship players and one of those players should be the £1.7 million rated central midfielder Grant Leadbitter.

The Middlesbrough midfielder is an extremely experienced player at Championship level and is exactly the sort of player that the Reds need if they are to challenge next season.

Both Chris Cohen and David Vaughan have been exceptional in the Forest midfield in recent months but Leadbitter would not only provide quality, but experience and leadership in the middle of the park.

Leadbitter could return to the Boro side after their recent relegation to the Premier League but Forest should act quickly if they want to stand any chance of signing the 31-year-old after he was close to joining the club in his Ipswich Town days.

Forest need experience, depth and leadership in the middle of the park and Leadbitter would provide this in abundance.

Nottingham Forest fans… Should Forest finally try and sign Leadbitter? Is he the sort of player that Forest need to recruit in the summer? Who else should the Reds sign this summer? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
