It has been a difficult season for Sheffield Wednesday in the Sky Bet Championship, with the Owls failing to compete for promotion like many expected them to do.

Since Jos Luhukay’s appointment there hasn’t been an upturn in results, with the Owls still struggling without a number of key players ahead of the run-in.

Wednesday currently sit 17th in the Championship table, with just 37 points from their 36 fixtures, with the Owls hovering seven points above the relegation zone with 10 fixtures remaining.

The Owls face Bolton Wanderers in the Championship this weekend, but enter the contest on the back of a miserable run of form, having suffered four consecutive league defeats prior to this weekend.

With injuries still piled up against Luhukay at Hillsborough, Wednesday will be without a number of high-profile names once again.

Here at FLW, we assess Luhukay’s squad and select the starting XI we believe he will field…

Wildsmith has been excellent in Keiren Westwood’s absence and should continue against Bolton.

Lees has been missing for large parts of the season, but has recently returned.

The defender keeps his place in defence.

Loovens and Lees had been the backbone of Wednesday’s success in recent seasons, and seeing the duo back together will delight the club’s supporters.

Pudil has played some of his best football at centre-back this season, and with Luhukay looking set to stick with a 3-5-2 formation, the 32-year-old features in this trio.

Palmer and Jack Hunt have competed for this role under Luhukay, but with Hunt struggling, the former gets the nod against Bolton.

Luhukay has confirmed that Clare is back for Wednesday this weekend, and the youngster should come straight back into central midfield.

The likes of Barry Bannan and Sam Hutchinson are only just edging their way back to full fitness, meaning Jones continues in a midfield role.

Reach has switched to a central role under Luhukay and has continued to impress for the Owls under his new boss.

Luhukay has handed Fox a role at centre-back in a 3-5-2 formation, with George Boyd at left wing-back.

However, this weekend, Fox should move to a more advanced position to bring better balance to the system.

Nuhiu keeps his place in the starting XI, as Luhukay’s side continue to battle on without a number of key players.

Joao stepped off the bench to score against Ipswich Town during the week, and should come back into the starting XI to replace an underperforming Jordan Rhodes.
