If there was one thing Gary Rowett will want to fix at Pride Park from last season it will be the lack of goals his team were able to put away, that proved to be the difference between a mid-table finish and the top-six.

Arguably, the Rams do have a number of quality strikers in their ranks, including former England internationals David Nugent and Darren Bent.

Despite that, it was still a clear issue and, in my opinion, Derby County still need to dive into the transfer market for a consistent, reliable centre-forward - and they would get that in £425,000-rated forward Liam Boyce.

The Northern Ireland man currently plays for Ross County in Scotland's top division, but however underwhelming that sounds, he was awarded the league's golden boot with 23 goals from the 2016/17 campaign.

That is quite an impressive feat when you consider he's beaten the likes of Moussa Dembele and Scott Sinclair at Celtic, but it's not just how often he hits the net that is majestic.

Boyce's ratio for hitting an effort on target is 62% and that justifies the reasoning even more as to why Gary Rowett should purchase the striker, when only a handful of attackers in the country can boast such a high percentage.

His record for rippling the net is simply excellent.

If Derby don't snatch him up then it will be a regrettable mistake and most likely he'll be signing for a Championship rival.

County fans, do you think it's a realistic signing? Would he improve your frontline? Is a new striker necessarily? Give us your thoughts in the comments below!
