It was a disastrous season for Aston Villa in the Premier League in both the boardroom and on the pitch.

The ownership situation rumbled on all season with Randy Lerner only recently able to sell the club to Chinese businessman Tony Xia, who has made clear he wants to turn Villa into a superpower again.

But first he needs to get out of the Championship and try and keep hold of as many players as possible.

Tim Sherwood was not given much of a chance to keep them up last season and after Garde failed miserably, former Champions League winning manager Roberto Di Matteo has been brought in to get Villa back to the Premier League.

They were abysmal on the goals front with Gestede rarely finding the net and Agbonlahor is frustrating the fans with his poor attitude.

But there is clearly talent at Villa with Gueye excelling for the side, Sinclair started to perform and excellent young prospects like Traore and Grealish.

Di Matteo has to keep hold of as many as possible with there being a lot of interest in Traore, Grealish and Gil back in Spain.

But here is the ideal midfield FOUR for Roberto Di Matteo to implement at Villa next season, in the opinion of FLW's Michael Hasan....

LM - Jack Grealish

His career has only started and the 20-year- old has already proved controversial with him  eing caught inhaling nitrous oxide and passing out on holiday.

But that takes away from the fact he is a brilliant young footballer with a lot of pace and skill, and Villa fans were critical of management for not starting him at the end of the season when their fate was sealed.

Destined for big things he has represented England at youth level and is an upgrade on Sinclair who is getting his career back on track, since his terrible move to Manchester City from Swansea.

Grealish could be a big breakthrough star next season with him fancied by some to take the league by storm, and he certainly has the ability to trouble Championship defences.

Di Matteo needs to bring through the youngsters next season.

CM - Graham Dorrans

Dorrans is understood to be one of the top targets for Villa next season with his future looking uncertain at relegated Norwich.

He was fairly poor in his 17 showings for Norwich, but did originally help them gain promotion and the Scotland international is an experienced Premier League player with West Brom, and will be hoping for a reunion with former boss Di Matteo.

It may be a difficult decision in central midfield as Gueye has statistically been one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.

CM - Idrissa Gueye

Idrissa Gueye45

It's a strange case when it comes to Gueye with the 25-year-old part of an awful midfield last season.

But looking at the statistics Gueye has been the second best central midfielder in the Premier League behind Kante, and has been good at breaking up attacking plays.

RM - Adama Traore

Adama Traore

Another young talent that was surprisingly underused by the management, even when their fate was sealed.

The exciting winger was mainstay in the Barcelona B side and has made his debut for Barcelona before Villa signed him, and fans were excited by the pacy winger with good dead ball ability and shooting ability.

With Villa likely to lose Carles Gil, they will need 20-year-old Traore to step up and his pace will terrorise defences next season.

He has international experience at Spanish youth level and next season could be very significant for his career.
