Reading's midfield is a curious case.

Northern Irish playmaker Olly Norwood continues to divide opinions, with some seeing him as a luxury, whereas some see him as the key man and an integral part to success next season.

Danny Williams provides energy and is a player who will drive the attack forward from deep, but as Reading have seen too often this season, his final product is still lacking, and with a bumper contract coming into its last year, he could be headed out of the door.

Stephen Quinn has endured a successful first season in Berkshire, and has earned admirers with his high effort levels and versatility. Aaron Kuhl and Aaron Tshibola both look like solid young prospects, and George Evans has the potential to be an excellent player in the future.

With a flat 4-3-3 looking like the most viable option for the new manager, here is, in my opinion, the dream midfield for Reading next season...

CM - Aaron Tshibola

The young holding midfielder enjoyed a successful season at Hartlepool in the 2014/15 season, and several were hoping he would make a big impact last season.

After an extremely bright start was interrupted by a lengthy injury, Tshibola failed to really get back to peak fitness and has spent most of the season on the sidelines.

However, with a great passing range and excellent strength and stamina, the youngster could be key next season.

CM - Stephen Quinn

Quinn is one of the most versatile players in the Championship, but his best position is certainly in the centre of the park.

A natural box-to-box midfielder, he provides an injection of intent going forward, but also offers excellent protection for his back four.

If he can stay fit for the whole of next season then he could be an integral part of what could be an all-conquering Reading midfield.

CM - Aron Gunnarsson

Aron Gunnarsson

The Icelandic playmaker is currently plying his trade with Championship rivals Cardiff City, but has found himself out of favour in the Welsh capital this season, and could well move on this summer.

With a great eye for a pass and also potent long range shooting ability, Gunnarsson adds a little bit of flair and unpredictability to any midfield.

Should he have a good Euros, Reading will have to pay big, but he would certainly be worth the fee.
