Blackburn really need some new signings for next season and it looks like tough times could be ahead. Even though the transfer embargo has been lifted the owners don't seem willing to spend much and most are predicting a struggle for next season.

After losing star striker Jordan Rhodes to Middlesbrough in the January transfer window, they are short up front with Danny Graham returning to his parent club and Nathan Delfouneso inconsistent.

Their midfield consisted of a lot of loan players last season like Jordi Gomez being on loan from Sunderland and his good little spell will make him a target for them this summer. Darragh Lenihan and Jason Lowe seemed like good prospects and will be crucial next season if they are to stay up.

Marshall and Akpan had there moments as well but overall it lacked creativity and Coyle has already made clear his plans to bolster it using the loan market this summer.

Under the controversial Venky ruling they have been struggling more and more as the years pass and some feel that Coyle faces a battle to keep them up this season.

Here in the opinion of FLW writer Michael Hasan, is the dream midfield for Blackburn under Owen Coyle next season...

LM - Ben Marshall

Probably the most consistent player Blackburn have had in recent years and was one of their better players last season.

He was disappointing on the goals front but was positive going forwards and is a danger from set pieces. He is also versatile and can play further forward and Blackburn may face a fight to keep hold of him.

He has a lot of experience at this level with Blackburn and Leicester and is a man Coyle needs for the rebuild at the club. Marshall has been subject of speculation for a while with Blackburn turning down bids from Brighton for the winger in January.

CM - Darragh Lenihan

Darragh Lenihan

Lenihan has really shone for Blackburn this season with the 22 year old Irishman bursting into the first team ranks and forming a decent partnership with Jason Lowe. He is a regular for the Republic of Ireland at youth level and admits he is living the dream at Blackburn by getting first team football.

With Akpan inconsistent, Lenihan could have a big season next year if he is consistent and can nail down that starting place alongside a new signing or Lowe.

In his short time at the club former manager Paul Lambert compared him to Roy Keane for his ferocious tackling and ability to read the game, a comparison that should always excite a young player like Lenihan.

CM - Conor Hourihane

Conor Hourihane is a target for Huddersfield Town
Blackburn need some new signings in the middle of the park and Hourihane could be the man.

He was a crucial part in Barnsley winning promotion from League One and excellently controlled the playoff final in their 3-1 win over Millwall.

He has 22 goals in 80 games for the Tykes and even though they will be playing in the same division, Blackburn may be able to lure him with more money.

Hourihane is one of the most productive midfielders in the Football League and could be just what Blackburn need.

RM - Wellington Silva

Due to the lack of versatility of Jordi Gomez who can't play right midfield a move for Arsenal star Wellington Silva may be wise.

He spent last season on loan to Bolton who were relegated but Silva did impress with his pacy displays down the flank and got numerous assists plus 2 goals.

He was one of their standout players but at 23 seems unlikely to break through at Arsenal anytime soon so a permanent switch to a Championship side like Blackburn may be on the cards.
